The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk is a project of the Mitchell Sub Branch of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia.

It is a project born of collaboration between the Mitchell Sub Branch and the Mitchell Shire Council, first conceived in 2005 with an approach by now Mayor Bill Melbourne to the Seymour RSL sub branch for a memorial commemorating Vietnam Veterans,so many of whom started their military service at Puckapunyal . It was then passed to Mitchell Sub branch of V V A,who formed a steering committee of 3 to evaluate sites & viability of the project   .

The Mitchell Sub Branch then formed a subcommittee of 8 members and charged them with the task of working with the Shire, first forming a concept, then implementing that concept.

Seven years later we have a Commemorative Walk that belongs to every veteran of the Vietnam conflict. Every Veteran can be proud of the part he or she played in that very tumultuous part of Australian history.

It now stands in perpetuity for all our descendants to remember and reflect upon. It is also for those people who opposed the war to reflect upon their part of this history for they too need to contemplate.
